The Chief Investigator maintains overall responsibility for a research study. They are responsible for the design, conduct, and reporting of a study.
They are also responsible for identifying collaborators, establishing a study management team (where appropriate) and delegating responsibilities to them according to their expertise and experience.
This also includes appointing a study manager to coordinate the trial and Principal Investigators to be based at recruitment sites.
