Hosted at the prestigious Francis Crick Institute, the day saw researchers, staff, academics, patients and the public come together to celebrate mental health research across the area and launch the ambitious five-year research strategy.
The day kicked off with welcoming words from Jinjer Kandola, the partnership’s Chief Executive who spoke of the mission for the trust to be a centre of excellence for mental health care in the UK. The partnership’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Vincent Kirchner, and Director of Research, Lynis Lewis, spoke about the role of research in contributing to the trust’s aspirations and launched the five-year research strategy, underscoring the vision for the organisation:
“To establish the NLMHP as a centre of excellence for research, transforming to an organisation with an obligation to provide the care, training and the research opportunities that will establish it as a preferred place to do research leading to a significant impact on the health of our population, our knowledge and on the economy.”
Summing up the day, Dr Kirchner highlighted the importance of research as something important and positive that the new North London NHS Foundation Trust can coalesce round and build into the culture of the new organisation. He thanked all of the attendees, speakers and the chairs, Prof Fiona Nolan and Prof Rob Howard. He also thanked both Lynis Lewis and Andrew Perugia for organising the day.
Presentations and recordings are planned to be made available soon.
Thank you to everyone for coming and celebrating research with us.
